As entrepreneurs and leaders, we must learn to do things well. This phrase means a lot and will make you and your projects the best. The success of what you do comes from having the habit of “doing things right”.
In the world of entrepreneurship and leadership, “wanting” is not enough. It is also necessary to put the “do” into practice, we already know that, we must act. But beyond that, it is necessary to act well. If we combine these three things (wanting, doing and doing well) we will certainly have a very successful business.
What is “doing things right”?
Nothing more and nothing less than taking action and doing things as they should be, as planned… so that you get the best possible results. When you talk about doing things well, you’re talking about excellence.
We must make excellence our habit. This means that day after day we make sure to do things as well as possible. And I want to share something I really liked.
We must do the best
I was listening to a very good message from a Christian pastor and shared about our roles as leaders, entrepreneurs, business people. It is based on the story of Jesus and the miracle of turning water into wine (read here). But he emphasizes that the result was not just wine, the scriptures make it very clear that it was the best wine.
This man (a preacher) asks God, “Why did you make it the best wine?” and he says that God told him that he did it that way back then because he doesn’t know how to do it any other way . It’s a way of saying that God can only do quality things.
And so should we be. We have to be so excellent that everything we do is of quality and of the best. With us there can be no mediocrity, half measures and certainly not badly done.
Everything you put your hands on has to be the best.
Another thing I loved that this man said was that everything that comes into our hands needs to be turned into something better like Jesus did at that time. Jesus had water, meaning something without taste, color… but he turned it into something with taste, color… and as if that wasn’t enough, the best taste.
As leaders we have to be like that, everything that comes our hands we have to turn into something better, that makes things good. What did you do with what came into your hands? Could it be that you turned it into something better? Or have you damaged it by bad habits? We have to learn to do things right.
So, Entrepreneur friend, anything you get your hands on must take care to turn it into something better, call it work team, machines, company etc. But how to do it right?
How do you do things right?
Then I will leave you some messages that will be very helpful. I hope you will read it carefully and pay close attention to it by putting it into practice at the same time.
“Copy and paste” is an excellent tip
This phrase, which we do not like at all because it is plagiarism, is very useful when we are talking about being better. I mean imitate, and let me use my experience of Christianity to teach you something.
Biblically we are to be imitators of God (Ephesians 5). Because imitating is not bad, as long as what we imitate is good. However, many of us feel small when we try to imitate someone as great as God, so we are made clear in 1 Corinthians 11 that we are imitators of a man (Paul) like him of Christ.
In other words, since God may be too great for us, let us imitate a man who may be easier for us, but on condition that we only imitate what is good, that is, what he could imitate of God . Why am I telling you this?
First, so you know that imitation isn’t bad. And second, you might want to impersonate a person of excellence and high level (inventor of Facebook, etc.). But you feel that you cannot reach him. So my advice is imitate that great person next to you.
That is, your parents, siblings, that hardworking neighbor, that friend, co-worker… as long as they have a good attitude to emulate. In order to do things well, it is necessary to imitate those who do well.
Have a plan and follow it to the letter “It’s your mission”
If we don’t do things right, one of two things can happen:
- We don’t have a plan.
- We have it, but we don’t follow it.
So, to do things with excellence, you must start making a plan and strategies… but most importantly, and very importantly, follow them to the letter.
We have to see it as a mission, if you will, a military mission. That is, something that must be fulfilled for everything, even if it costs us death, hahaha, that last one is a joke, it’s a way of saying that we must make the best effort possible to fulfill it. If you do this, I am sure that you will start doing things very well and the result of your efforts will bear very good fruit.
Do you dare to do things better?
I hope so, dear friend. And when we work with excellence, our environment begins to change. Because it’s not about what you get when you do things well. But that you infect an entire team with your excellence, which gives your projects more power.
So keep an eye on that my friend. Let’s not be mediocre. No matter how small what we are going to do may seem, we must do it in the best way (there is a very interesting message on this that I hope to share with you soon… we are going to talk about small things that big deal damage).
So without further ado, friend, I have no choice but to say goodbye and wish you every success…
A hug! See you next time!
