If you’re wondering how to become a good entrepreneur, you’ve come to the right place. This is the opportunity to give you some tips on how to become a better entrepreneur.
Saying “entrepreneur” and “good entrepreneur” are the same. In other words, when we say good entrepreneur, we repeat that because an entrepreneur has to be inherently good. But we use this term because there are people who believe that they are already perfect entrepreneurs. And in reality, they have many qualities (or do some things) that are not typical of an entrepreneur, or lack some that are.
On the other hand, we will learn from the moment we are born until we die. We will never be able to say “I know everything”. So we will always need advice of this kind to help us get better. Let’s see how to become a good entrepreneur.
How to be a Good Entrepreneur – Here are the answers
Without further ado, I leave you with our tips to become better entrepreneurs. Take note of every point in your life and apply it.
#1- Be humble about learning.
What we just saw. An entrepreneur, no matter how long a journey, experience and knowledge he has, cannot shut himself off from new knowledge. But beyond that, you must be humble when it comes to being taught. What I mean? not only to be taught by people who are superior in experience and position. Well, I am sure that many employees, customers and even people on the street can teach you something. So if you have time to talk to them, make the most of it. Surely they have something to teach you.
#2- Don’t be selfish and teach.
Continuing with the subject of ego, we cannot leave teaching aside. Being the good entrepreneur that you are, you have to teach others. And it’s not just a matter of principles, values blah blah blah, but let’s face it, it suits you. If you teach one of your associates or partners something you can do, chances are you’ll have their support when you’re away. Or do you want your work team to be ignorant in everything related to business? Go! Teach what you know and you will see how everyone will achieve as much as you do. Leading the company to success!
#3- Be persistent but open to change
Let’s talk a little bit about balance. We must persevere so that, despite the difficulties, we move forward. However, when perseverance turns into stubbornness, that’s not very good. That’s why it’s good to be open to change.
If you have a strategy and it doesn’t work at first, you have to persevere. However, if time goes by and it still doesn’t work, it’s time to make a change. This is even the case with many business ideas. People starting a restaurant, for example, but it’s just never going to work. The entrepreneur perseveres, tries a thousand and one, but gets to the point where he has to say: “Stop! It’s time to change because we’re not doing anything.”
There the store changes its location, dedicates itself to something else or simply adapts its value proposition to a better one. But the truth is that something has to change. So be persistent, but don’t shut yourself off from change.
“Hold on with wits and wisdom, or else you will become stubborn”
#4- Work based on short-term goals
Although it is true that our main goal or objective is long-term. A good answer to how to be a good entrepreneur is to segment and create small goals.
For example, you want to have a network of very popular blogs and websites on the internet. This will take time so you can set yourself a simpler goal, but that’s part of what you need to do to achieve the big goal. For example, having a blog and getting 1000 visits a day. Then you reach 10,000. And so on until it becomes a very popular blog and the goal will not be a blog but creating the second and the third etc.
The good thing is that the satisfaction of achieving a goal, no matter how small, motivates you more. It’s like being told to walk 1km, you see this long road and you get lazy. But if they give you a goal in the 100 meters, you’ll see it more easily, and when you get there, you’ll be motivated to reach the next 100 meters.
And I ask, have you deviated from the main goal (the kilometer)? No, even if you go from 100 to 100 you are moving forward and getting closer to the big goal. So, you need to set short-term goals that will, one way or another, allow you to get closer to the big goal.
#5- Develop your discipline
A good answer to how to be a good entrepreneur is the answer to another question: “How to be more disciplined”. When you learn to have discipline, you begin to accomplish what you need to accomplish in order to reach your goals.
For example, an undisciplined person will not pay attention to these points that we share. On the other hand, a disciplined person is trained, so to speak, to obey each of these rules, because that is what the discipline “denying yourself certain pleasures and a certain desire to do what needs to be done” is all about.
#6 – Build good relationships
As an entrepreneur, you must be able to communicate. But beyond just communicating, you need to be able to persuade and connect with people. And creating relationships allows you to have allies who can support you at any time. Because we have to be clear about one thing: We just won’t get far!
a- You must refer to your employees:
If you want to commit to having a better social position and look over others’ shoulders, sorry but what a bad entrepreneur you are! As a result, your employees will only work for you out of a sense of duty, without passion bad things will happen sooner or later.
So you have to refer to them. Get to know them, if there are many it doesn’t matter, just being able to interact with a few is enough to transfer that confidence to others. You never know if among those employees your next assistant, coordinator, department manager, etc.
b- You must refer to your partners:
Obvious brother! He is your partner and you should have a good relationship with him. The problem is that there are many people who get involved in society and never see each other again, do not have lunch together, etc. This often leads to misunderstandings, quarrels, contradictory decisions … Whatever! all a mess.
The healthiest thing is that they set up some appointments, meetings… where they can talk about business, but in a more familiar setting. It can be in one of your houses, in the restaurant, etc.
c- You must relate to your customers:
When the relationship between the company and the customer goes beyond a buy-sell, the company is on its way to a better destination. Have you read about the Canvas business model yet? There is a segment that talks about customer relationships. I invite you to see it and even enjoy many examples that we have in this blog. I assure you that you will discover how to improve your relationship with your customers.
