His goal with Lust Films was to make films that might interest them. Convinced that there are dissatisfied audiences among women, Erika Lust made a 2004 short film from a female point of view, The good girl. This film, he recalls, “was very successful, it won awards at festivals, people liked it”, reactions that encouraged him to continue with his company.
But how do they reach women in Lust Films? When it came time to distribute it, this company found the industry closed. With this in mind, he decided to address the public directly in two ways. On the one hand the Internet, where they will soon be opening an online shop. “At first it was just for our movies, but we started buying more products and now it’s a shop that sells sex items, DVDs by other authors, etc.” Lust also contacted adult boutique executives to tell them about it convince them that their films were similar products to the ones they were selling, opening up a second distribution channel. Thirdly, the media presence of Erika Lust herself (frequent presence in the press, TV etc.) helped the company by “giving her the basis to communicate directly with the public”.
“I really tell stories, with elaborate photography, thoughtful stories and protagonists who know what they want,” he says.
