Success Follows Me is the story of an entrepreneur who teaches us how to be successful. So much so that success is the one that will follow us.
Every day we hear phrases like “follow your dreams”, “achieve success”, “strive to achieve what you want”. However, we often misunderstand them.
We think these words are telling us to strive to achieve what we want and that we will not be able to succeed and achieve our dream home if we don’t live our lives without rest and live with our bodies exhausted all the time, the latest model car…
This short story tries to explain how we should work so that we can have everything we want. It teaches us that if we know how to do it, success will follow us.
The story of an entrepreneur begins.
“Success Follows Me”
My name is Alexander, since I was very little I like to work so I can buy my own things. I remember the first thing I wanted to buy was a bike.
Not knowing what to do to get the money, I was desperate until I met a good friend who told me that helping his father in the workshop made him some money.
He even told me that if I wanted I could talk to his father so he would give me the opportunity. Of course I said yes!
Tip #1: The story of an entrepreneur like you begins with a need, an idea and an opportunity that you should seize, even if it’s small!
It wasn’t what I expected:
My first day was terrible. I worked and every time I looked at my watch I wanted to go outside to see my pay! You can’t imagine how much I longed for my bike. But as you know, time was slower for me.
After a day (which lasted 100 hours for me) I went to get my first daily payment and as I see it was nothing for what my bike was worth!
Tip #2 from an entrepreneur’s story: The zeal to see quick results is a great enemy of entrepreneurs today.
I went home angry and disappointed. But what else could he do? it was the only job he had. The second day was worse as I was tired from the day before and had no motivation. So several days passed before I was able to buy my bike!
A conflict with reality:
I was very pleased. I remember my mother saying to me, “You look so cute, I hadn’t seen you smile for a long time, you were bitter the whole time.”
That’s when I reconsidered and said to myself, “It doesn’t make sense that being happy today is worth it if I’ve been suffering for more than 30 days. And not only that, I have to be bitter on other days to achieve other goals.”
And then I started imagining the struggle I would have to achieve other achievements, like a house, a family, a car. Can you imagine how long I would have to live bitterly? Lifespan!
Advice No. 3: The story of an entrepreneur cannot suffer more than enjoy it: working 50 years until retirement and enjoying 10 years makes no sense!
A lesson I will never forget:
Very discouraged, I sat down in the street when a tall and elegant man came up to me and asked what was going on. I told him everything and he smiled and said:
“Your problem is that you worked for success.”
If I’m honest, I didn’t understand anything. Shouldn’t we? But this kind man, seeing my face lost in his words, said to me:
“Don’t work to succeed, work to survive and keep going. It’s like a race, it goes ahead, so you have to make an effort and often suffer to reach it and enjoy it. But if you stop running again, it will take you further and you will have to work just as hard or more than the first time. On the other hand, if instead of stopping, you keep running, you will get past it and it will be success that is behind you.
Now he understood a little more, but he didn’t understand everything he said. The Lord was so wise that he explained it to me without my asking. He knew I didn’t understand much!
“You worked hard to buy your bike. So you ran in the race. You collected enough, there you became successful, but you stopped working. So you’re just enjoying the little taste that success has given you at that moment, which is the bike. But success continues and you are sitting here.
So what should I have done – I asked…
“If you took that money and invested it to make more money, you would have a new source of income and could part with this job that torments you so much. The result of this would not be that you would have to go to work to buy your bike (achieve success) but that with your own business the resources and opportunities to buy this and much more would come to you (success would come to you follow). ” .
In that moment, I understood that we live in a world of zeal where we want everything fast. And that to be truly successful, we shouldn’t be working on buying a cell phone or a house, we should be working on investing in something that will bring those assets into our lives.
Tip #4: It’s like saying don’t work to make money, make money work for you. This must be the story of an entrepreneur like you!…
A lesson learned and put into practice:
From that moment I decided that success was behind me. So I no longer work to buy a car, but for a company that can give me that benefit and much more.
So I sold my bike and bought some tools to work as a blacksmith. But if I’m being honest, almost 100% of the earnings from the first few months have been reinvested. I didn’t want a taste of success! I wanted to enjoy the whole moment behind me!
Today I can say that I have more than a bike or a car, I have a business network that allows a number of benefits to reach me.
“Spending and not investing is like having seeds and eating them instead of planting them…”
What is the point of this short story?
If we study the statistics how many entrepreneurs are successful worldwide. We will find a frightening number: 80% of entrepreneurs fail before they are at least 5 years old after their creation.
Not to mention the people who can’t even get started with an idea they have in their head. The numbers would be terrifying! very few actually do
And while there are many factors involved, I would like to mention one very specific reason for failure: “Poor resource management.” Yes! Like the story of an entrepreneur.
We can mention a large number of entrepreneurs who have succeeded thanks to their ingenuity, innovation or whatever, but without good management they would have failed!
So if you want to be successful and have it behind you, you need to forget all those luxuries so quickly.
The most important thing now is to start the business and survive, invest and work on its growth.
I want you to watch this video where I explain the stages a business must go through. You’ll find that you don’t have to treat yourself to luxury or anything like that at the beginning, because if you want to be successful, you have to survive in the desert!
A valuable extra:
I don’t want to say goodbye if I first share one of the keys to success as an entrepreneur. I want you to hear it from Steve Jobs.
The video is long but I want you to watch from minute 2:54 to 3:49.
As you can see, it has a lot to do with loving what you do, that passion that keeps you going despite the difficult situation.
What do you think of the story of an entrepreneur?
I would love to read your comments, what do you think of the entrepreneur’s story? Do you think it’s a good story or a bit exaggerated?
I hope you enjoyed it and learned that success should be behind you and not your whole life looking for it…
… As in the video, we have to live through phases, moments in which we have to make an effort to go after success. But the time will come when we will grow so big that success will follow us everywhere.
Without saying more now, I say goodbye!
